Methodological guide on the integration of gender in environmental assessments

This methodological guide on the integration of gender in environmental assessments is intended as a practical tool for development actors and environmental assessment experts, to better structure the questioning of gender and the consideration of gender analysis in the different stages of environmental and social impact studies of projects and in strategic environmental assessments of development programs, plans and policies. The authors are
supported by a documentary review and case analysis. They drew on personal experiences reflecting more than 25 years of practice in strategic environmental assessment, environmental and social impact assessment and specialized studies on gender and development.

The methodological guide is an operational tool intended for both environmental assessment experts and gender specialists involved in development planning at all levels of intervention. It is with pleasure that we warmly invite readers, on the one hand to its practical use and to the pursuit of exchanges through feedback from field experiences and the multiplication of discussion forums, and on the other hand to its integration into the monitoring tools of the inclusion of sustainable development in project documents, programs and development plan.
